Dawson called up for Euros

Baggies defender named in England U21s squad

CRAIG Dawson has crowned an impressive season by being named in England Under-21s’ squad for next month’s European Championships in Israel.

The Baggies centre-half, who has 13 caps and five goals under his belt for Stuart Pearce’s men, recently returned from a successful 16-game loan spell at Bolton.

He showed his top-flight credentials in his first Barclays Premier League appearance of the campaign at Manchester City last week.

And the 23-year-old is now part of a 23-man Three Lions party that will kick off the summer tournament against Italy in Tel Aviv on Wednesday, June 5, before group games against Norway and the hosts.

Players are eligible for the 2013 championship if they were born on or after January 1, 1990.
