Albion visit Russells Hall Hospital

Baggies drop into local children's ward

ALBION players today brought Christmas cheer to the children’s ward at Russells Hall Hospital.

For the seventh year running, the Baggies visited the Dudley hospital – and the first-team squad again joined forces with the club to buy an array of presents for young patients.

Nicolas Anelka, Saido Berahino and Victor Anichebe joined Steven Reid at Russells Hall.

“We all look forward to the Christmas hospital visits,” said Reid.

“It’s great to see smiles on their faces when we walk in.

“I’m sure it’s nice for all the children but for the Albion fans it’s extra special.

“One of the young lads had come back from having an x-ray on his leg and you wouldn’t have known because he had a big smile on his face.”

Paula Clark, Chief Executive, The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, added: “No child wants to spend Christmas in hospital away from their home and loved ones, so it’s wonderful when their stay over the festive period with us can be made a little more pleasant.

“We look forward to the visit every year as it really is heart-warming to see the West Bromwich Albion players put a smile on the faces of the children we look after.”
