Sporting Club Albion earn place in third round of County Cup

SPORTING Club Albion Ladies overcame Solihull 4-2 in the Birmingham County Cup second round on Sunday.

Natasha Baptistse, Louise Fellows, and Robyn James were on the scoresheet for the Baggies with a fortunate own goal helping to seal the win.

Caelyn Hirschman and Nicole Nymoen made their full debuts for Dave Lawrence’s side and the Albion gaffer was pleased to advance to the next stage of the competition.

“It was relatively comfortable win but I’m disappointed we conceded a couple of sloppy goals,” said Lawrence.

“In the early stages of any cup competition you just need to make sure you get through it and onto the next round.

“It doesn’t matter whether you win 1-0 or 15-0 as long as you’re in the hat for the next round.

“It’s been a bit stop-start over the last couple of weeks so it was important to get a result as we haven’t played for a couple of weeks.
