Odemwingie glad to see Baggies stay on upward curve
PETER Odemwingie believes Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Chelsea at The Hawthorns is Albion’s best of the season so far.
The Baggies earned their sixth home win in seven games thanks to the Nigeria international striker’s fourth Barclays Premier League goal of the campaign.
And the 31-year-old hopes Albion’s excellent home form will continue to breed confidence in Steve Clarke’s camp.
“It was the best three points,” said Odemwingie.
“It maybe wasn’t our best game but it was the best three points of the season because a good test came in the later stages where we needed to take away all the doubts about our great start.
“We needed to show people against a big club that we have started well but we want to continue that way, so this is the best three points of the season.
“It definitely gives us great belief.
“Our results have already given us confidence and the belief is growing but we need to keep putting things in there to keep us confident."
Odemwingie insists his Baggies team-mates have improved this term with three points the perfect reward for their hard work.
“I think we are all improving," he added.
“A few weeks ago I said what made me happy was that I saw individual improvement alongside the team’s improvement - and you become happier for your efforts with where you are.
“Players look more ambitious, we’re playing nice football and that makes our week go really well.
“You enjoy the hard work alongside the quality, and in games you feel you are alongside players who have confidence they are good.
“This game was a good time to win against a big club in November, to show that after we beat teams like Liverpool and got away points against Tottenham we’re still on that same upwards movement.

“He has to manage that in a long season where we’re hoping to achieve something.

“It’s normal that sometimes you ask questions but in the end it is the result that matters, and there are no questions because the result is there.
“I wanted to play after Southampton when I scored two. I wanted to start again and I didn’t start but we won, so what can I say?
“He is the head coach and he decides what’s best for the team and the club."
