Young Baggies set for Swansea clash

29 February 2020

Albion's PL2 side will return to action in the Premier League 2 Division Two when they head to Wales to take on Swansea City at Landore Training Centre on Monday (ko 7pm).

The young Baggies' most recent league clash was against Aston Villa, which they won 1-0 thanks to a tremendous Nick Clayton-Phillips strike.

An impressive campaign so far means Albion currently occupy third place in the table, with hosts Swansea City in sixth place.

The Baggies beat the Swans when the two sides went head-to-head at The Hawthorns earlier in the year thanks to a brace from Kenneth Zohore.

Albion’s PL2 side beat Swansea City 1-0 thanks to a George Harmon strike at Landore Training Ground on Monday evening.

A positive performance was rewarded with a goal by Harmon as the Baggies continued their impressive league form in the Premier League 2 Division Two.

Albion dominated much of the first half and created several decent chances, with Zak Brown narrowly missing the target twice before the Throstles midfielder was denied on the line when defender Cameron Evans scrambled his effort away to safety.

Tyrese Dyce and Cheikh Diaby also went close for the visitors in the first half, but the game went past the hour mark with neither side managing to get on to the scoresheet.

When Albion did eventually take the lead, it was through a brilliant team move. A powerful George Harmon strike into the corner of the net followed a fluent passage of play to give the visitors the advantage with just more than 20 minutes left on the clock.

As the game came to a close the Baggies looked comfortable until Aksum White was given his marching orders for a challenge on the halfway line, but Albion defended well to hold on to a deserved victory on the road.

ALBION: Griffiths; White, Martinez, Shotton, Harmon; King (Wilding 77), Azaz; Gardner-Hickman, Brown, Dyce, Diaby (Asomugha 74).

Substitutes: Sharpe, Ojebode, Thorndike.
