SAWYERS penned a one-year deal, plus a year's option in the club's favour, in summer 2011.
He is a regular in the Under-21s and last season went out on loan to Shrewsbury - where he made seven appearances.
Sawyers also had a brief loan spell at Port Vale during the 2010/11 season - but did not make it off the bench.
The Birmingham-born midfielder's 2009/10 season was ruined by a knee injury.
He has been with the club for more than seven years.
Excellent technically, very intelligent and tactically bright.
He is also a good creator and is a good No.10 who can play off the centre-forward in space.
Sawyers ended the 2008/09 season on a high when he made the bench for Albion's Barclays Premier League goalless draw at Blackburn.
