KIM joined Albion on loan from Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma until the end of the season on January 31 after impressing during a training spell the previous month.
The Baggies then converted the move into a £500,000 permanent transfer as the Korea Republic international signed a two-year contract, plus a further year's option in the club's favour.
Kim found it difficult to pin down regular first-team football last term as his early-season promise faded.
His chances were not helped by a medial knee ligament injury sustained in September's 1-0 win at Middlesbrough, which sidelined him for more than a month.
On the international scene he will be hoping to be part of Korea Republic's World Cup squad after they became one of the first countries to qualify for South Africa 2010.
He was limited to one start and six sub appearances during his first season at the club but did more than enough to impress then-manager Tony Mowbray.
He made a vital contribution on the final day of the season at QPR, coming off the bench to net his first goal for the club and help clinch the Championship title.
Before he joined the Baggies the Korea Republic star had made 46 appearances for his country.
