BARNES joined Albion on February 3, 2010, on an 18-month deal, plus a further year's option in the club's favour.
The youngster trained with the Baggies the month before after being released by Derby in December.
When he arrived at The Hawthorns he was in the process of building up his fitness after rupturing his right Achilles in August 2009.
That was the latest in a series of injuries that had sidelined him for over a year.
He returned to first-team action in March and made one start and eight substitute appearances in Albion's final 12 games en route to promotion - winning vital penalties in back-to-back wins over Blackpool and Swansea.
Barnes joined the Rams as a trainee and made his first-team debut at the tender age of 17, going on to score 13 goals in 95 appearances, including 28 as a substitute.
And the Barking-born ace made 21 top-flight appearances in County's relegation season.
