Robson: "If my players go in with the right mental approach and play the way they are...we'll hopefully win the game." |
BRYAN Robson has urged his troops to focus on their own strengths when they take on newly-promoted Southend tomorrow (Saturday, ko
3pm).
The Baggies will be looking to extend their 100 per cent home record against a Shrimpers side that has yet to pick up a point in three attempts on their travels this term.
"I'm not too concerned about Southend," said Robson.
"I'm only concerned about my own players.
"If they go into this game with the right mental approach and play the way they are at the moment then, with a bit of fortune, we'll hopefully win the game.
"Every team in this division will work hard against you and make it difficult.
"But my players have shown they themselves are a difficult team to play against at The Hawthorns.
"Because of our away form, we need to keep our home form going.
"I think we've put three solid performances in at home with some good football and good goals. We now need to keep that going.
"We've had eight games this season and the lads have done well in seven of them.
"We only let ourselves down at Sunderland and it's important we get back to winning ways on Saturday and give ourselves a chance in the next away game.
"We kept our patience well against Leicester last Saturday and got the breakthrough. Then the game opened up.
"We're not in the position in the league we'd like to be in but we have to focus on Saturday's game."

Robson: "Eastwood has got a good goalscoring record. He can score out of nothing." |
The Hawthorns clash will see the two sides unite before kick-off to celebrate FIFA Fair Play Day.
But Robson has warned his players once the first whistle goes to beware the threat of Freddy Eastwood.
The Southend striker smashed 23 goals to guide Steve Tilson's men to promotion last season and has three league strikes to his name already this term.
"Eastwood has got a good goalscoring record. He can score out of nothing," Robson added.
"We'll have to be wary of him - but I'm only worried about my own players.
"If my players go out there with a good mental approach and work hard, I know we have got the ability to beat most sides."
United defender Spencer Prior will miss tomorrow's game with a knee injury sustained in training.
Striker Lee Bradbury (thigh) remains sidelined while fellow forward Michael Ricketts is still regaining his fitness after an Achilles problem.
