Brunt off to flying start with NI

CHRIS Brunt played 90 minutes as Northern Ireland opened their Euro 2012 qualifying campaign with a 1-0 win over Slovenia in Maribor last night.

James Morrison came on as a 76th-minute substitute for Scotland in their goalless draw with Lithuania in Kaunas.

Baggies team-mate Graham Dorrans was an unused substitute in the Group I encounter.

The Scots entertain Liechtenstein at Hamden Park on Tuesday, when Roman Bednar is set for action with group rivals Czech Republic against Lithuania in Olomouc.

Boaz Myhill watched from the bench as Wales lost 1-0 to Montenegro in their Group G opener in Podgorica.

Gabriel Tamas played the whole game as Romania were denied all three points by Albania's last-gasp equaliser in their 1-1 draw in Piatra-Nearnt.

The Romanian's now face Belarus in Minsk on Tuesday.

Peter Odemwingie has joined up with Nigeria for their African Nations Cup qualifier against Madagascar in Abuja tomorrow.
