ROBERTO Di Matteo is hoping his men can build on the positives from their win over Sunderland last weekend at Liverpool on Sunday (ko 3pm).
The Baggies boss admits spirits have been high in the camp this week, especially after a totally different starting XI beat Leyton Orient 2-0 in Tuesday's Carling Cup second-round clash.
But he has warned his 13th-placed troops against making the mistakes that cost them in their opening-day 6-0 defeat at Chelsea.
"I don't think I could have asked for more from my players," said Di Matteo.
"We had a very solid performance at home to Sunderland and a really good win in the Carling Cup.
"By winning games your confidence grows and the mood this week has been quite good.
"We were looking to improve our performance from the first game to the second league game.
"I would like to see us follow the second game and try to avoid the mistakes of the first game to give us the best chance of getting something."
The fourth-from-bottom Reds are still looking for their first Barclays Premier League win of the season after a 1-1 draw with Arsenal and a 3-0 defeat at Manchester City.
Roy Hodgson's men also endured a taxing trip to Turkey on Thursday where they needed two late goals to beat Trabzonspor 2-1 and qualify for the Europa League group stage.
But the Baggies have not picked up a point at Anfield in almost 26 years and Di Matteo is expecting their task to be as tough as ever.
"There is no good time to go to Anfield," he added.
"It's a great club, with a great tradition and players.
"There are so many players there with Champions League, international and World Cup experience.
"They have fantastic players and we know we're going to be in for a challenging afternoon."
