ROBERTO Di Matteo has ruled out wholesale changes to his team for tomorrow's clash with Sunderland (ko 3pm) after backing his troops to put things right.
The Baggies boss was disappointed by the individual errors that led to his side's 6-0 defeat - the biggest of his short managerial career - at Chelsea on the opening day of the season.
But he intends to intoduce only a couple of fresh faces to his starting XI to take on the Black Cats at The Hawthorns.
And he has confirmed skipper Scott Carson will keep his place between the sticks as the England goalkeeper looks to make amends for the error that led to an early opener at Stamford Bridge.
"I wouldn't expect many changes," said Di Matteo.
"There might be a couple of changes - but not many.
"Scott knows he made a mistake and he is disappointed about it.
"But I have confidence in him and I would like him to show tomorrow that he can win us some points."
The Albion chief has also warned his men to beware the threat of Mackems pace aces - England hitman Darren Bent, who fired 25 goals last term, former Manchester United striker Fraizer Campbell and United loanee Danny Welbeck.
But Di Matteo is hoping to take advantage of the absence of their skipper and midfield dynamo Lee Cattermole, who will be missing through suspension.
"Sunderland are a very good team," he added.
"They have a good goalscorer in their team and they have some quality players with a lot of pace.
"It's going to be a tough game - but any team we face will be difficult to play.
"If we manage to cut out a few little mistakes that we made last weekend we will give ourselves a chance.
"Cattermole seems to be an influential player so let's hope we can exploit that situation."
