Albion confirm vuvuzela ban

Posted on: Sat 31 Jul 2010

ALBION can confirm they have banned vuvuzelas from all Hawthorns matches.

The club have taken this decision because they feel the plastic instruments would contravene Barclays Premier and Football League ground regulations and also be hugely unpopular with supporters.

Mark Miles, Albion's head of facility operations and development, said: "Although vuvuzelas are very popular in South Africa, which was very evident at the World Cup, we do not see them as becoming part of the English football culture.

"Not only is there strong opposition to vuvuzelas from the TV rights holders, we feel allowing them into our stadium would break the league's ground regulations.

"Most importantly, we have had a lot of feedback from our own supporters who have overwhelmingly stated their opposition to vuvuzelas being allowed into The Hawthorns."
