Albion pre-season starts next week

Posted on: Tue 06 Jul 2010

ALBION will begin the countdown to their Barclays Premier League kick-off on Saturday, August 14 when the players return for pre-season training on Monday.

Roberto Di Matteo's men face an intense build-up to their opening friendly at Kidderminster Harriers on Saturday, July 10 (ko 12.30pm).*

The Baggies fly to Holland the following day for a week-long training camp near Eindhoven.

But Albion's World Cup trio - Chris Wood, Gonzalo Jara and Marek Cech - will be absent from the trip - as they have been handed a well-earned breather.

New Zealand's Chris Wood is due to report back on Saturday, July 24 after exiting the tournament at the group stage.

Chile's Gonzalo Jara and Slovakia's Marek Cech are both due to return four days later after second-round departures from South Africa 2010.
