GRAHAM Dorrans is out to make amends for his misses in October's goalless draw with Preston when the two sides meet again tomorrow (ko 3pm).
The 22-year-old has already smashed 15 goals this season and was only pipped by Newcastle's Kevin Nolan to the Coca-Cola Championship Player-of-the-Year Award on Sunday night.
But because of the exacting high standards he sets for himself his Deepdale disappointments still niggle him heading into the Hawthorns meeting between the two sides.
"I had a few chances up there and probably should have scored - and we should have won the game," said Dorrans.
"Hopefully I can take that into tomorrow's game and get a goal this time so hopefully we can get three points.
"They are doing well. The new manager hasn't been there long and they have picked up so it will be a tough game.
"But we will prepare like we always do and hopefully we can get the win."
The Scotland international admitted it was flattering to be voted the second best player outside the Barclays Premier League.
"It's nice to be voted that," he added.
"The guy phoned me a few months ago and told me I was in the running but I didn't know it was decided the other night until Coxy told me.
"But it's nice to be up there and be in contention for these awards.
"To be up there along with the likes of Kevin Nolan and the guys from Forest is great but hopefully I can just continue doing what I'm doing and kick on."
Dorrans insists his only focus now is to ensure the Baggies clinch automatic promotion to the top flight.
And his 79th-minute penalty opener in Tuesday's 2-0 win at Swansea helped Roberto Di Matteo's second-placed men surge eight points clear of nearest rivals Nottingham Forest, with nine games remaining.
"Tuesday was a big night for us," he insisted.
"Forest lost and we got a good three points.
"We never played very well on the night but at this stage of the season it's all about getting three points on the board and having that final push to get us over the line.
"It was a nice win for us especially with the way the other results went for us.
"But no-one is getting carried away.
"We've had a lead before, although not as big as the one we've got now.
"Everybody is focused until we're over that finish line."
