Jesse Pennington made his England debut at left full-back in a 1-1 draw with Wales at Fulham's Craven Cottage, beginning his legendary defensive partnership with Bob Crompton.
Pennington went on to make 25 appearances in total for England, and would surely have had more had his career not been interrupted by the Great War.
Nonetheless, in an era where England rarely played more than five games in a season, 25 caps was a very healthy haul for any player.
