Baggies strike second esprit UK deal

Posted on: Sat 13 Mar 2010

ALBION are hoping lightning strikes twice after agreeing a second one-game shirt sponsorship deal with local company esprit UK for tomorrow's Hawthorns date with Blackpool (ko 3pm).

The logo of the West Bromwich-based shop-fitting and interior fit-out specialists appeared on the front of the team's shirts for the first time during the thrilling FA Cup fourth-round victory over Newcastle in January.

And the club are hoping the partnership brings them similar luck against Ian Holloway's side tomorrow as they bid to cement their top-two position.

esprit UK are one of four companies - alongside Blue Square, Victor Chandler and Sbobet - to have struck one-game shirt partnerships with the club this season.

But time is running out for businesses and organisations who want to follow suit - because the club have sewn up sponsorship deals for six of their remaining 11 fixtures.

Albion have struck shirt deals for each of their six remaining home games.

This means the only matches still available are the trips to Swansea, Reading, Watford, Doncaster and Crystal Palace, which is live on Sky Sports.

The club are willing to discuss single or multiple-game shirt sponsorship deals for these games.

Albion announced in late November they were ready to open talks with companies about single or multiple game deals.

For the second season running, the team have been playing in unsponsored shirts as the Club's search for a suitable, long-term, official sponsor continues.

However, after receiving clarification from the Football League, Albion can offer businesses and organisations the unique opportunity to sponsor their shirt on a match-by-match basis.

Albion have only been able to offer short-term shirt sponsorship deals this season as they are not permitted under Premier League rules.

The club have also donated the advertising space on the front of their shirts to support the DEC's Haiti Earthquake Appeal and the aid effort in Gonzalo Jara's earthquake-hit home city of Talcahuano.

esprit UK have a long-standing relationship with Albion and worked hand-in-hand with the club's retail department to complete a fit-out of the Merry Hill Centre Club Store.

They offer a premium retail service across the United Kingdom, Ireland and Europe to a diverse range of blue chip clients in varied industry sectors.
