ROBERTO Di Matteo admits he will closely monitor the fitness of Graham Dorrans, Robert Koren and Abdoulaye Meite over the coming month.
The Baggies trio all played 90 minutes for Scotland, Slovenia and Ivory Coast respectively on Wednesday to add to the burden of an already hectic Coca-Cola Championship schedule.
And the Albion boss is eager to make sure he does not burn them out, with tomorrow's trip to QPR (ko 3pm) the first of seven games in March.
"Dorrans, Koren and Meite all played the whole match and that's something we have to take into consideration with these players," said Di Matteo.
"They have been playing so many games and in their only midweek without a league game they played an international.
"We played eight games last month and now we've got another seven in this month so we will have to watch out for those boys."
The Hawthorns chief is also hoping for a positive reaction from Gianni Zuiverloon after being left out of last Saturday's 3-1 win over Derby.
But, with Gonzalo Jara out for the rest of the season with a broken metatarsal, he admits he is still scouring the loan market to bolster his options.
"Gianni has played a lot of football and he is going through a bad moment so I decided to give him a little break from it, that's all," Di Matteo added.
"It happens to all of us.
"We all have bad days in our lives, some more than others.
"Hopefully we will see a positive reaction from the player.
That's what we're looking for.
"Losing Jara has been a big blow because he is such a versatile, good player.
"We could cover a few positions and options with him.
"We have covered one position with Ben Watson but Jara could play right-back, left-back or centre-back if needed so we almost need to bring in three players to cover the positions he could play.
"The loan market is a difficult market.
"We are always looking and we have been in touch with a number of clubs and players.
"But it has turned out to be very difficult to find the right player for what we need."
