CRAIG Levein hailed the performance of man-of-the-match Graham Dorrans in Scotland's 1-0 win over the Czech Republic.
The Baggies midfielder started in a five-man midfield on his home debut for his country and played a part in Scott Brown's 60th-minute strike.
The result also ended a 14-year wait for a friendly victory at Hampden Park in the first game of Levein's reign as manager.
"Graham's a very good player," said the Scotland boss.
"I like young players to play like young players, with enthusiasm and energy, when they get the opportunity to play for their country.
"I thought he showed everything today.
"I thought he showed his ability on numerous occasions.
"His work rate was fantastic as well.
"He's certainly grown up from the young boy that left Livingston to go down to West Brom."
Dorrans was delighted with his performance and believes the win lays down a marker for the Euro 2012 qualifiers where the Scots will also meet the Czechs.
"I thought on the whole we did well tonight," said the Hawthorns ace.
"Browny's got the goal in the end.
"It's been a long time without a win here and I'm glad we got one in the end.
"I feel comfortable at this level and long may it continue.
"I had a few games in the Premier League last season.
"I've pushed on this season and I hope I can keep going and get in future squads.
"They're one of the teams in our group.
"We knew it was going to be a tough game but we matched them in every department.
"When we come up against them in the qualifiers it will be a tough game as well.
"But this stands us in good stead."
