FRANK Nouble believes being reunited with Eddie Newton will help bring the best out of him at The Hawthorns.
The 18-year-old loan signing from West Ham worked under the Baggies assistant head coach when the duo were at Chelsea's Academy.
And Nouble insists there is no better motivator than Newton for him as he adapts to a spell in the Coca-Cola Championship.
He said: "Before I arrived here I knew West Brom would get the ball down and play football - and I know the assistant head coach, Eddie Newton, well.
"He had me at Chelsea when I was 13 or 14 so he has been a good man to me for a long time and I'm just happy I got to rejoin him.
"It's important, and at West Ham we have Gianfranco Zola and Steve Clarke, who were at Chelsea.
"It's good to be around people who know you.
"It makes you feel a bit more wanted.
"Eddie is always onto you and never gives you a rest.
"He wants you to do well and that's why he is always onto you, which is good for you as a young player.
"I don't want to rest on my laurels. I want to keep going."
Nouble is frustrated he will be unable to play in Saturday's FA Cup fifth-round trip to Reading as he is cup-tied after starting the Hammers' 2-1 third-round defeat by Arsenal last month.
But he has settled in quickly to life in the Black Country and is looking forward to Tuesday's league trip to Cardiff (ko 7.45pm).
"I am in a place on my own at the moment but I've got a few friends up here and they will take me out a few times, into town shopping when we've got a day off," he added.
"I'm just happy that I'm here in a nice place and it's not too far from London.
"It will be very frustrating to miss Saturday because I have come here to play every game possible.
"Reading is a good stage to showcase what you can do.
"Hopefully the team will play well and get a win."
