Frank out to make impact on promotion race
FRANK Nouble is hoping to make enough of an impact in his initial month's loan at Albion to extend his stay until the end of the season - and insisted: "I'll play like it's my club."
The powerful West Ham striker is relishing the chance to showcase his talents on the Coca-Cola Championship stage with the Baggies after dropping down a level.
And he is hoping he can give Roberto Di Matteo's second-placed side a shot in the arm in the promotion race.
"There's a possibility of staying longer," said Nouble, who is eligible for tonight's home clash with Scunthorpe (ko 7.45pm).
"It's initially a month and hopefully I can impress and make it until the end of the season because this team is pressing for promotion and that's the sort of thing I want to be involved in.
"I made my senior debut at 17 recently.
"I've just turned 18 and I want to get as many games and as much experience as I can, whether it be Premier League or Championship.
"I'm here to gain experience and help the team.
"I'm very excited about playing in the Championship with a big team.
"I want to know how I can compete at this level, put myself about and see what I can do.
"A few of the lads at West Ham said the Championship is a bit different in terms of being a bit more physical.
"That comes in every league so it's just about putting my brain to the test and doing what's best to win games for West Brom."
The former Chelsea trainee can play anywhere across the forward line and admits Stamford Bridge ace Didier Drogba is a big influence on him.
"Coming into a winning side will help my confidence and make it less pressure for me," the four-time capped England Under-19s international added.
"I just want to play in an attacking role, on the left, right or down the middle.
"I just enjoy attacking.
"It's a big plus the team is winning games.
"Attacking-wise I admire Drogba.
"In the last three years he has upped his game.
"He's the complete centre-forward now as we saw against Arsenal on Sunday.
"Hopefully I can nick a goal tonight but most importantly is to win and keep that winning streak going."
The Lewisham-born hotshot also admits the Chelsea connection between Hammers boss Gianfranco Zola and Di Matteo just rubber-stamped his desire to come to The Hawthorns.
"It's terrific training with Gianfranco Zola," he said.
"He's a real gentleman and he and his staff are really encouraging to the young players.
"Whatever I do is a compliment to him as well and hopefully I can repay the confidence he has shown in me by sending me to West Brom.
"He told me this is a club that plays football, which I knew already.
"He told me to do my best, give 100 per cent and leave nothing behind, play as if it's your team, which I'm going to do.
"He and Roberto Di Matteo are close friends and it was easy for him to talk to him about me.
"The Chelsea links help.
"Di Matteo was a terrific player when he was at Chelsea.
"Everything just seems to come together and it made sense to come here."
