CHRIS Brunt is hoping Albion's home FA Cup fourth-round victory over Newcastle on Saturday can act as a springboard for their Hawthorns form.
The Baggies have won just one of their last four games on their own turf, a run which has seen them drop out of the automatic promotion places to third.
And Brunt, who spent over three years at Sheffield Wednesday, is eager to get back on track with three points against Steel City rivals Sheffield United on Saturday ( ko 3pm).
"It's been difficult at home for the last few weeks because teams have sat back and soaked things up, maybe with the exception of Forest and Cardiff, where we were second best by a long way in both games," he said.
"But we got a good result against Peterborough on Boxing Day and the game at the weekend was a good performance and a good result against a good side.
"Hopefully that can spring us into life.
"I think I'd take a win over anybody at the minute.
"It's been a while since we've got one in the league.
"I only ever played against Sheffield United a couple of times.
"I liked my time at Wednesday but now I will take three points against whoever they come against, hopefully starting against Sheffield United at the weekend."
The Northern Ireland international has been part of a five-man midfield in Albion's last three games.
And he believes the ability of Roberto Di Matteo's men to switch formations successfully could be crucial in the race for the Barclays Premier League.
"It's worked alright for us in the last few games," Brunt added.
"At Newcastle away it worked pretty well and on Saturday it worked really well.
"It's a system that we can play with the players we've got, although I don't know what sort of system we had at the end against Ipswich when we were chasing the game!
"It's important to be able to adapt because it's a tough league and asking questions of other teams can ultimately get you a few points."
