JONAS Olsson admitted he was bemused by referee Stuart Attwell's decision to award a game-changing penalty against him in last night's 1-1 draw at Ipswich.
The Warwickshire official surprised everyone by pointing to the spot when the Baggies' defender challenged Damien Delaney.
Grant Leadbitter slotted the penalty away to open the scoring in the 68th minute and Olsson was left even more frustrated as he felt he deserved a penalty at the other end when he was pulled down in the box ten minutes earlier.
"I don't know why it was given," he said.
"I was maybe grabbing him a little bit by the shirt but that's something that happens a lot of times in games.
"I was asking the ref what happened but he didn't want to speak to me.
"He just told me to get in line.
"I think it was very easily given and I think I should have had a penalty ten minutes before that when I was one metre from the ball in the box and got really dragged down from behind - but he didn't give that one.
"I guess it's part of the game."
Albion's vice-skipper epitomised the dogged determination Roberto Di Matteo's men demonstrated to get a point as he played the entire Portman Road encounter with three stitches in his head to a wound he sustained in Saturday's FA Cup win over Newcastle.
"The doctor made a good job of stitching it up after the game against Newcastle," he added.
"I thought it was going to open up when I headed the ball but I had a bandage and it looked fine, there is no problem.
"It was caused by an elbow against Newcastle but it wasn't intentional.
"It was no problem.
"In training on Monday I was careful about heading the ball but on the pitch with the adrenaline you don't think about it."
Olsson has been pleased by Albion's performances in the last two league games against Toon and Town.
But he does not believe they got their just desserts in either match, which have both resulted in draws.
"It's a point and it's a good equaliser by Brunty in the end," he said.
"I think we played well.
"They had a few chances and Scotty played a really good game but I think we were decent, and we had our share of chances as well.
"I think we kept our patience and showed good morale to come back and get one point at least.
"It's good morale and after their penalty goal we created a few more chances and we didn't kick the ball and hope for the best.
"We kept sticking to our game-plan and making the pitch wide and credit to the team for coming back.
"We are very happy with the reaction to losing to Forest, but the results could have been better.
"I think we deserved better.
"We have played two league games since that, Newcastle and Ipswich away, and we have taken two points from them.
"That's not what I think we deserved in the end.
"But we need to keep doing this and we know the points will come."
