Jara thanks Di Matteo

Posted on: Mon 21 Dec 2009

GONZALO Jara has thanked Roberto Di Matteo for the faith he has shown in him.

The versatile Chile midfielder has been used in numerous positions since his summer arrival at The Hawthorns.

But in recent games he has bedded down in central midfield and has become a key figure in the Baggies boss' plans.

"He transmits a confidence," said Jara.

"The fact I am there regularly in the first team improves that confidence.

"He is someone who is there all the time and I can see that he believes in my performances."

And the 24-year-old is confident second-placed Albion can build on their solid first half to the season and bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

"From what I have seen so far from the performances and the matches we've played I think there's every chance we can get promoted," he added.

"But obviously there are a hell of a lot of games still to be played, but at the moment I can't see any reason why we can't get promoted to the Premier League.

"That's what I want to achieve this year."
