On This Day - December 15

Posted on: Wed 16 Dec 2009

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 15, 1965

At Peterborough United's London Road ground, defending a slim 2-1 lead from the first leg of the semi-final, Albion advanced imperiously into the final with West Ham United by beating the Posh 4-2, a Tony Brown hat-trick instrumental in the win, Ray Crawford adding the other goal to complete a 6-3 aggregate victory.

By the time he final itself came around almost three months later, Crawford had left the Baggies, rejoining Ipswich Town where he had earlier won a League title under Alf Ramsey.

Get this and more in the Baggies' book 'THE ALBION On This Day', by Dave Bowler and Laurie Rampling, available in club stores and online (click here), priced £9.99 - the ideal stocking filler for the Albion fan in your life.
