Baggies' triple injury boost

Posted on: Mon 14 Dec 2009

ALBION have been given a triple injury boost with Youssouf Mulumbu, Jerome Thomas and Luke Moore all back in training before Monday's game with QPR (ko 7.45pm).

Mulumbu limped out of Tuesday's 2-0 defeat by Cardiff with a knee and ankle problem but has now been given the all-clear.

Moore (thigh) missed the Bluebirds encounter and Thomas (hamstring) has been forced to sit out the last two games.

But Roberto Di Matteo has revealed both are on course for a return to action against the Hoops.

"Youssouf is fine," said the Baggies boss.

"He had some treatment and trained today.

"Luke and Jerome will be training with us and hopefully they'll be available for selection on Monday.

"On Tuesday night we didn't have too many options or too many ways of changing the game - that's life."

The good news continued today after James Morrison was given the green light to resume fitness work next week.

The Scotland international has been sidelined for eight months with a niggling heel problem.

"The scarring of his wound is progressing very well," Di Matteo added.

"Hopefully he'll start doing some fitness work next week.

"He can get trainers on now to be able to run.

"He hasn't been able to do anything since April.

"I think it has been very frustrating for him and for us.

"We're looking forward to having him back.

"Let's look at the bright side.

"Hopefully he can start back next week - and that's the closest we've ever been with him.

"Then we'll have a better idea on a comeback date for him."
