SIMON Cox is thriving in attack alongside Luke Moore and believes it will not be long before his strike-partner is also feeling the benefits.

The duo have been paired together in the last four Coca-Cola Championship games, with the Baggies winning all of them and scoring 15 goals in the process.

Cox has notched five times in that spell and, while Moore has drawn a blank, Cox believes the former Villa striker will reap the rewards for his efforts sooner rather than later.

"It's looked good in the last four games that we have played together," he said.

"At the moment everything seems to be dropping to me but that's the way football is at times.

"Come February or March everything might be dropping to Luke and I might not be scoring.

"But if he keeps getting in those positions and hitting the target he will get his goals.

"All strikers are confidence players and when you're going through a bit of a bad spell it's not nice.

"But you need that little boost of knowing you're going to play the next game - and in a team like this you will get chances.

"We are creating five or six good chances in every game at the moment and if we keep getting him in and around the box and doing his stuff he will end up getting his goals."

The £1.9million summer-signing has now urged his team-mates not to let all their hard work go to waste at 16th-placed Derby on Saturday.

The Baggies head into the Pride Park encounter second in the table and six points clear of nearest rivals Leicester.

"You look at the table now but not with any conviction," Cox added.

"It doesn't lie and at the moment we're the second best team in the league and the best goalscorers in the league by a bit.

"Six points is a nice cushion to have but if we drop a couple of games we are right back in it, so we've got to make sure we don't slip up and, if we do, it has to be only one game.

"We have to remember that one point is better than none, although we will aim to keep picking three points up in matches.

"It is very important for us to win the next one at least.

"We don't want to win convincingly against a team like Sheffield Wednesday and then throw it away against Derby because that would be a sucker blow.

"We're confident that we can go into that one and win but we are away again so we will have to do the horrible things first to be able to stamp our style of football on the game.

"But they like to play football as well so it could be a good game to watch as a neutral.

"And if we keep scoring goals as we are, there should be a few goals in it."
