Albion offering unique shirt deal

Posted on: Sun 29 Nov 2009

ALBION are ready to open talks about ground-breaking shirt sponsorship deals they can now offer on a match-by-match basis.

For the second season running, the team are playing in unsponsored shirts as the Club's search for a suitable, long-term, official sponsor continues.

However, after receiving clarification from the Football League, Albion can now offer businesses and organisations the unique opportunity to sponsor their shirt for single or multiple games.

And with four forthcoming Baggies matches to be screened live by Sky Sports and the BBC, this is the perfect time for a company to join forces with the Club and have their brand broadcast to a worldwide audience.

Albion will be live on Sky when they entertain QPR on Monday, December 14, Nottingham Forest on Friday, January 8 and travel to Newcastle on Monday, January 18. The Baggies' game at Bristol City on Sunday, February 21 will also be broadcast by the BBC.

The Club have already successfully helped promote the country's bid to stage the World Cup in nine years' time by having 'England 2018' logos printed on their shirts during the season-opener against Newcastle, which was screened live on BBC1.

Albion are now open to further single or multiple-game deals on a commercial basis.

Finance Director Mark Jenkins said: "The Football League has clarified that, under their rules, we are able to offer shirt sponsorship deals on a short-term, as well as the traditional long-term, basis.

"The first business to come forward and take advantage of this unique opportunity could make a little piece of footballing history as we have never offered this before.

"The World Cup Bid team were delighted with how we helped raise the profile of their campaign across the globe.

"The same opportunity is now available for businesses and organisations interested in striking a commercial deal with the Club.

"Of course, ideally, we would like to team up with a long-term official Club sponsor.

"We have held talks with several companies over the past 18 months but, until we receive a suitable offer from the right organisation, we are willing to sell our shirt sponsorship rights on a match-by-match basis.

"Becoming a principle Club sponsor means much more than just having a logo on our shirt and we would like to discuss in detail with interested parties the exciting commercial and marketing opportunities on offer."

Albion were unable to offer short-term shirt sponsorship deals last season as they are not allowed under Premier League rules.
