Moore makes goal pledge to Dozza
GRAHAM Dorrans has revealed Luke Moore's confidence-boosting strike in Albion's 5-0 win over Watford has prompted the striker to make a pledge to score against Leicester on Saturday (ko 3pm).
The Scotland international Dorrans has no doubts Moore has the ability to help fire Roberto Di Matteo's men to promotion after leading the way in the Baggies' recent finishing school.
And he hopes the former Villa hitman's third goal of the campaign is the beginning of a run of goals after he ended a Coca-Cola Championship seven-game barren spell.
"We were well up for it against Watford and it was a great performance," said Dorrans.
"We'd been practising our finishing for the full week leading up to it and you can see it paid off with the five goals.
"Finishing is a confidence thing.
"We've got some great strikers and their finishing is great in training every day.
"It's great for Coxy and Luke to get on the scoresheet and Roman's chomping at the bit to get back in after playing in the reserves and getting a goal.
"All the strikers are in form and that's what you look for.
"Luke's one of the players in training whose finishing is unbelievable.
"He bangs them in from everywhere.
"He's promised me he'll get another goal on Saturday and hopefully he can do it.
"If he gets that little run together hopefully he won't stop scoring.
"He had an injury and missed a couple of games recently.
"But he got his goal on Saturday, which will give him huge confidence, and hopefully he can take it on and the whole team can go on a run, and he can get the goals."
Dorrans himself benefitted from a week of shooting practice as he fired his first-ever league goal for the club against the Hornets courtesy of an expertly-taken penalty - and admitted it was a weight off his shoulders to get off the mark.
But he knows he may not get too many more chances from the spot with Chris Brunt eager to stay on penalty duty.
"It's great to get my first league goal for the club and hopefully that's a bit of a weight off my shoulders and I can get a few more," Dorrans added.
"As well as needing your strikers to score, you need your midfielders to chip in as well.
"It's normally Brunty that takes the penalties.
"The gaffer picks before the game who is going to take it if we get one.
"He asked me before the Watford game, we got one and I managed to score.
"We'll see what happens before the game on Saturday and who the gaffer picks to take the pen.
"I took some when I was at Livingston but not too many.
"I'm hoping to stay on penalty duty but I spoke to Brunty and he said he wants to take them - it's down to the gaffer."
Dorrans' sights are now firmly fixed on the trip to the fourth-placed Foxes and finishing on a positive note ahead of the international break.
"The Watford game is behind us now and we're concentrating on what will be a tough game at Leicester on Saturday," he said.
"They're flying high.
"They got a good result last weekend at QPR.
"They've just come up and are right up there pushing.
"Leicester are a massive club and you expect club's like that to be up there.
"But we'll be going there with confidence to hopefully get three points so we can kick on and go on a run."
