KAYLEDEN Brown's opener was enough to earn Albion Under-18s a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Leeds in their FA Premier Academy League clash on Saturday.
The Baggies striker put the hosts in front within ten minutes after he tapped home Lee Lynch's mishit shot from Tom Waghorn's cross
United levelled eight minutes from time and Hawthorns coach Keith Downing admitted it was a fair result.
"We started quite brightly and scored the opening goal in the first 15 minutes," he said.
"Leeds came with an experienced, physical side and played a high-tempo pressing game, which didn't give us much time on the ball.
"It ended up, second-half in particular, being a hard contest - as they wanted it.
"We were a little bit short in terms of passing detail and quality on the ball.
"In fairness Leeds got themselves back into the game and deserved their equaliser.
"In the past we've not withstood the physical contest when teams have come here to mix it - but we withstood it on Saturday.
"But we didn't have enough quality in possession and we didn't have the ball enough in the top half to create many openings.
"That's the first time this season we've been unable to do that."
Baggies Under-18s visit Newcastle on Saturday (ko 1pm).
