Jonno: We're 'shocked' by Hartson news

Posted on: Wed 15 Jul 2009

JONATHAN Greening has revealed news of John Hartson being diagnosed with cancer sent shockwaves around Albion's pre-season training camp in Slovenia.

The Baggies skipper has offered his support to his friend and former team-mate and says the entire Hawthorns squad is praying for John and his family.

"When word reached us in Slovenia of Harts' illness, the lads were totally shocked," said Greening.

"Harts is a brilliant guy. You couldn't meet a nicer person.

"One thing's for sure, Harts is a fighter. All we can now do is keep everything crossed as he begins his treatment.

"His family are also in our thoughts at this difficult time. We're praying for them all."
