Steep learning curve for Wood
CHRIS Wood earned his third New Zealand cap as he came on as a 75th-minute substitute for Celtic's Chris Killen, but he was unable to prevent the All Whites slipping to a 2-0 defeat by hosts South Africa in the Confederations Cup last night.
The reverse leaves the Kiwis pointless at the bottom of Group A after two games and means they cannot qualify for the semi-finals - even if they beat Iraq in Johannesburg on Saturday (ko 7.30pm BST).
Do-heon Kim was not involved in Korea Republic's matchday squad as they drew 1-1 with Iran in their final World Cup qualifier, having already booked their place at next summer's finals in South Africa.
