Masters' Black Country consolation

Posted on: Mon 15 Jun 2009

ALBION had a mixed afternoon in the Midlands Masters on Saturday.

The Baggies squad included Derek Dudley, Sean Flynn, Andy Johnson, Wayne Fereday, Ian Hamilton, Daryl Burgess, Kevin Donovan, Carl Heggs and Bob Taylor.

Taylor's strike was not enough to prevent Albion slipping to a 2-1 defeat in their opener as Villa's Benito Carbone struck twice.

Johnson fired the Baggies into the lead in their next match against Blues, only for goals from Graham Hyde, Mark Cooper and Tommy Mooney to earn City a 3-1 success.

But Albion saved the best until last.

Burgess and Johnson were on the mark to make Don Goodman's opener for eventual NIA tournament winners Wolves nothing more than a consolation in a 2-1 Baggies victory.
