Dorrans boost for Baggies
ALBION have been boosted by the news Graham Dorrans will be fit for the start of pre-season.
A specialist has confirmed the broken metatarsal that has ruled the midfielder out of the last two games should heal in time for when Tony Mowbray's players report back from their summer break in July.
Dorrans picked up an initial foot injury in the Baggies' 3-0 win over Sunderland last month but an X-ray at that stage showed no major damage.
After missing the Tottenham trip, he returned to action in the 3-1 win over Wigan 11 days ago before limping off in the 55th minute with what a second X-ray showed was a fracture.
"Dorrans will be fit for the start of pre-season," said Mowbray.
"He's seen a specialist and they've looked at the scans together.
"The specialist is very confident that if we just leave it alone it will heal in a few weeks.
"There was no mistake with the first scan.
"Both X-rays are there to look at and everything is very clear on the first one.
"The second one shows a very definite fracture.
"The first scan showed up very clearly there was nothing and the boy had several fitness tests, came through them and said he felt fine, so we got on with it."
The Baggies boss is also hopeful left-back duo Marek Cech (hamstring) and Paul Robinson (ankle) will be fit for Sunday's trip to Blackburn (ko 4pm).
But, although he is determined to finish the season off with a victory, he insists there is no need to take any risks with any player's fitness now Albion's relegation has been confirmed.
"Marek's not far away and Paul is training," added Mowbray.
"But there won't be any risks taken with any players.
"The bottom line is if they're fit and they're training, they're fit to play.
"If they're not, they won't play.
"There is no need to put anyone's summer in jeopardy but we still want to go to Blackburn and win the game.
"We will continue to do things properly and be as positive as we can.
"It would be nice to try and overhaul Middlesbrough and not finish bottom of the table.
"We'll be preparing properly and be as professional as we possibly can going into Sunday's game."
