CHRIS Brunt has bagged the ultimate club honour - after winning Albion's official Player-of-the-Year Award for 2008/09.

The eight-goal midfielder was voted the Baggies' top performer by the management staff and his team-mates, with Scotland international James Morrison and Slovenia skipper Robert Koren finishing as runners-up.

Brunt has impressed during his first-ever season in the Barclays Premier League, particularly shining since being switched to right midfield in the past couple of months.

He has married consistent performances with an eye for a goal, having netted five times in his last five appearances.

"I'm delighted to win this award," beamed the Northern Ireland international, who was presented with his prize by skipper Jonathan Greening shortly before today's kick-off against Liverpool.

"It's made all the sweeter when you know your fellow pros have voted for you because they not only see you during matches but also every day in training.

"It's great to know you're appreciated by your team-mates.

"This has been my first season at this level and I've been happy enough with my form.

"But it's not just about me. It's a team game and I wouldn't have scored the goals I have without my team-mates.

"I just wish we had a few more points on the board.

"Having said that, we've still got two crucial games to try and address that - starting today against Liverpool."
