Beattie books Wembley trip

Posted on: Tue 12 May 2009

CRAIG Beattie last night became the third of Albion's loan rangers to book a Wembley date as he helped Sheffield United beat Preston 1-0 to reach the Championship play-off final.

The Hawthorns hitman produced a typically energetic display and played the full 90 minutes at Bramall Lane as Greg Halford's 59th-minute strike sealed a 2-1 aggregate win for the Blades.

United will face either Reading or Burnley in the final on Monday, May 25, while fellow Baggies Luke Daniels and David Worrall will be at Wembley two days earlier with Shrewsbury to take on Gillingham in the League Two play-off final.
