TONY Mowbray is hoping to see more of the same from Juan Carlos Menseguez before sitting down to discuss his future at the end of the season.
The January loan signing from San Lorenzo came off the bench in the 64th minute to wrap up three points for Albion with a stunning third goal in Saturday's 3-0 win over Sunderland.
It was only Menseguez's third appearance - all as a substitute - in the Barclays Premier League and Mowbray is hoping to give him more time to impress during the Baggies' four-game run-in.
"The club nor I have had a conversation yet with Juan or his advisors about his future," said the Hawthorns boss.
"The perception is that he's a very big player in the Argentine leagues and, again, it will probably come down to the individual and the club.
"He's their player.
"When you deal with South American clubs, it's usually via agents that you have to make the breakthrough or contact with.
"Juan's a talented individual, a nice lad and we will try and give him more game time to see what he can do."
Despite the language barrier facing the 25-year-old winger, Mowbray has been impressed by his application since arriving in England.
"He's grown on us all, really," he added.
"He has taken time to adapt and he's not a huge physical presence who comes steaming onto the training ground and makes you go 'wow'.
"Juan's slight, but you watch him now in training and can see he's settled, confident in his surroundings and very difficult to dislodge from the ball.
"He makes great decisions, has fast feet, manipulates the ball, gets himself out of trouble and knows where the ball is.
"He is a good player.
"We need to give him more game time to assess what our thoughts would be regarding his future.
"It's not as if I can have open conversations with him but he's been here a fair while and maybe he feels, not so much let down, but that he came here to play and he hasn't played.
"So I don't know his thoughts other than trying to keep him smiling and keep him happy."
