ISHMAEL Miller is hoping to get the 'green light' today to step up his recovery from a cruciate knee ligament injury.

Tony Mowbray revealed the giant striker is due to see a specialist to decide if he can resume jogging.

And he revealed Miller and fellow long-term knee-injury victim Neil Clement both have a good chance of being fit for the start of pre-season.

"Ish is due to see a specialist in London today, hopefully to get the green light to step it up a little bit more," said the Baggies boss.

"Hopefully it's all pretty positive at the moment.

"I don't want to sit here and say they will definitely be ready for pre-season but the signs at the moment are pretty positive and progressive.

"Hopefully Ishmael will get the green light to move further and we might see him with his boots on doing some jogging."

Leon Barnett has missed the last four games due to a knee problem but Mowbray is hopeful the 23-year-old centre-half is close to returning to training.

"He should maybe start getting back involved in training again soon," he added.

"He's got swelling around his knee and he's just resting at the moment, a bit like Jonas Olsson did.

"We need to take the intensity out of the work he does and see if we can get him out onto the training pitch.

"At the moment we want to rest it and see how it goes."
