Baggies cut through Forest
ALBION Under-18s got back to winning ways as they came from behind to beat Nottingham Forest 4-2 in Saturday's FA Premier Academy League inter-group clash.
George Thorne opened the scoring for the Baggies as they eased to a 1-0 half-time lead.
But two quick-fire goals from Forest immediately after the break saw them put Michael Appleton's side under pressure.
Albion responded in style, with Saido Berahino levelling before Chris Wood notched and Sam Mantom rounded off the victory from the penalty spot.
"The lads played very well in the first half and opened the scoring with a really good goal," said Appleton.
"We were cruising at half-time at 1-0 up and I could only see one winner.
"I talked to them about concentration levels at half-time.
"A little bit of sloppiness showed and five minutes into the second half we found ourselves 2-1 down without them really being in the game.
"It took us around ten minutes to regroup and we played exhibition stuff in the last 20 minutes - we could have scored eight.
"As soon as we scored the equaliser we had chance after chance."
The Baggies next play when they entertain Huddersfield Town in an inter-group fixture on Saturday, April 18 (ko noon).
ALBION (4-3-3): Allsop; Samuels, Downing, Gayle, Martin; Thorne, Mantom, Sawyers; Wood, Berahino, Lynch (Lovell 80). Subs not used: Carlin (gk), Waghorn, Grier, Knight.
