JAY Simpson says there is no room for regrets after Albion missed the chance to move up to at least 18th place by losing 2-0 at Fulham yesterday.
The on-loan striker was back in the starting XI after being forced to sit out the Baggies' 3-2 reverse by relegation-rivals Newcastle with a hamstring injury.
But, despite losing on his return, Simpson remains optimistic Tony Mowbray's troops have what it takes to give high-flying Everton a run for their money at Goodison Park on Saturday (ko 12.45pm).
"I am glad to be back and I was looking forward to the game," he said.
"I enjoyed it in patches but I was disappointed not to get a result.
"I think Fulham played much better than us.
"We let ourselves down.
"In patches, we did well defensively and looked hard to beat.
"But the first goal from a cross was a cheap one for us to concede.
"It depends where you go, but at some stadiums it is difficult to play away from home.
"It's something we need to work on because we need to start picking up away points.
"We need to get some wins on the road. Hopefully, we can start off at Everton next week.
"There are 12 games to go and I'm sure we can get enough points to stay up.
"We've got to keep working hard and put everything into it.
"Yesterday, there were a lot of disappointed players because of all the work we'd done in the week.
"For me, it was good to get back out training in good weather in Spain.
"We got to work on quite a few things and we came back fresh.
"We've just got to give it our all now.
"There can be no regrets.
"We still believe we can stay up."
Simpson reserved praise for fellow loan signings Juan Carlos Menseguez, who made his Albion debut as a 77th-minute substitute at Craven Cottage, and strike partner Marc-Antoine Fortuné.
"Juan Carlos looks like a good player in training. Hopefully, he can take that into matches," he added.
"It seems like he can get at defenders and put crosses in.
"Hopefully, he will bring something to the team that can help us win games and keep us up."
He added: "I like working with Marc.
"He works hard and we work well off each other, going in behind and coming to feet.
"I think the more we play together the better we will become as a partnership.
"Hopefully, we will get some more goals between us.
"From the first day he came in, we played well together in training and hopefully we can become a good partnership."
