Labadie out for four to six weeks

Posted on: Thu 08 Jan 2009

JOSS Labadie could be out for four to six weeks after suffering a foot injury that cruelly cut short his loan spell at Shrewsbury.

The Baggies midfielder, who signed his first professional contract in July, joined the Shrews on New Year's Day to gain first-team experience.

He helped the League Two outfit secure a goalless draw at Bradford two days later but on Monday suffered a suspected fracture of his fifth metatarsal in training.

Albion sporting and technical director Dan Ashworth said: "We're really disappointed for Joss and Shrewsbury.

"He played a full game against Bradford on Saturday in a defensive midfield role and Paul Simpson was really pleased with him.

"Joss was really excited and phoned me from the coach after the game to tell me how it had gone.

"He suffered the injury right at the end of training on Monday.

"We should get the results of the scan tomorrow but preliminary reports suggest he has fractured his fifth metatarsal, which will put him out for four to six weeks."
