ALBION are delighted to hear that former striker Geoff Horsfield has been given the all-clear after undergoing surgery for testicular cancer.

The news fittingly comes days before the team which 'The Horse' scored his most famous Baggies goal against, Portsmouth, visit The Hawthorns.

Horsfield has gone down in Albion folklore after coming off the bench to open the scoring in the 2-0 win over Pompey on May 15, 2005, which completed the club's famous 'Great Escape'.

Former team-mate Paul Robinson has summed up the mood at the club following's Horsfield's positive medical bulletin.

"It's absolutely fantastic news," said the left-back, who remains close friends with Horsfield after they donned the blue-and-white stripes together for more than three years.

"Geoff told me a few days ago and everyone at the club is really made up for him.

"It's been a really difficult period for him and his family but they can hopefully look forward to happier times now.
