Elford-Alliyu continues hot streak
LATEEF Elford-Alliyu's sixth goal in four games saw Albion Under-18s take the spoils in a 1-0 FA Premier Academy League (Group C) win over Stoke on Saturday.
The in-form hotshot bagged the winner on the hour-mark to make it back-to-back victories for the Baggies and extend their unbeaten run to four games.
Academy coach Roger Wilkinson said: "We played some very good football.
"We played through the thirds and there was some clever movement.
"We were a bit unlucky not to score two or three early on.
"They then set out to stop us playing and we played through them.
"We were very patient and eventually got the goal.
"They tried to stop us playing in the second half but we played through them and round them.
"Some of our football was excellent and we've just got to be a bit cleverer around the box.
"Teams now are looking to put a bank of eight against us to stop our cleverness.
"But this is a good learning curve for the boys.
"Overall we're trying to play good football and I think the club is getting a reputation for that."
The Baggies are away at Manchester City on Saturday (ko 11am).
ALBION (4-3-3): Allsop; Pike, Downing, Clarke, Saied; Mantom, Samuels, Knight; Lake-Gaskin, Sawyers, Elford-Alliyu. Subs not used: Wood, Lovell, Malcolm, Brown.
