Ladies beat Wolves
ALBION ladies got their Midland Combination Main League campaign off to a flier with a 3-2 win over Wolves in yesterday's Black Country derby.
The Baggies found themselves 1-0 down after half-an-hour but last season's top scorer Hayley Phillipowsky picked up where she left off with a 55th-minute leveller.
Natasha Baptiste, who came on as a ten minute substitute for the injured Shamara Parkes (hamstring), fired Albion ahead in the 58th minute.
Wanderers pegged the hosts back again but Phillipowsky kept her nerve to chip the goalkeeper with an 80th-minute winner.
Baggies manager Chris Holloway said: "We started brightly and both keepers made some good saves.
"I was really pleased considering we had some injuries and Wolves had a strong side out."
Holloway also handed a full debut to Under-16s striker Robyn James.
