TONY Mowbray has revealed Saturday's Barclays Premier League opener at Arsenal (ko 12.45pm) could come too soon for Robert Koren (knee) and Luke Moore (thigh).

Koren, who strained medial ligaments in his right knee in the club's opening pre-season fixture against Borussia Monchengladbach just over three and-a-half weeks ago, is back in training.

But, although the Slovenia international has set his sights on making his comeback at the Emirates Stadium, Mowbray admits he may have to hold him back.

"Robert will join in with training this week as he did last week when he trained two or three days before we pulled him out," he said.

"We'll probably do the same this week.

"He's not far away and, if it's anything to do with the boy, he'll be chomping at the bit ready to get involved at the weekend.

"The weekend might come a little bit too soon for him but we'll wait and see.

"We may have to hold him back a little but, if he does train every day this week, comes through it and looks great in training, then he's obviously got a chance.

"I would think he'll probably have to build up his training this week until he gets the confidence again to go into some challenges."

Moore has been sidelined for the last ten days but is expected to return to training towards the end of the week.

"Luke is making steady progress," Mowbray added.

"Again the weekend will probably come too soon but he won't be too far away.

"It's not a six-week job and he should be training later this week."

Neil Clement will today (Monday) undergo a scan on the knee he injured in Saturday's 1-1 pre-season draw with Real Mallorca.

"Clem is having a scan to see if there is any damage and what the injury is," said the Baggies boss.

"It settled down reasonably quickly after the game and it isn't the knee he's had problems with in the past, so we're hopeful he'll be okay."
