TONY Mowbray has praised the chairman's decision to appoint Dan Ashworth as sporting and technical director.
The former Albion Academy director was handed the role in December and Mowbray insists he has helped ease the burden on him and allowed him to focus more on football matters.
"The chairman's appointment of a sporting and technical director has been a huge help for me," said the Baggies boss.
"The difference between last summer and this summer has been marked from my point of view.
"I have spent some time with my family as opposed to last season when I spent time with my family but was always on the phone somewhere in the garden or in the hall.
"I think Dan Ashworth has taken a lot of that burden this summer and that has been good for me.
"I think the chairman has been visionary and it's been good having a sporting and technical director that works in between us so that I'm not constantly on the phone to the chairman and vice versa.
"I just get on with my football job and the sporting and technical director is bouncing between the two of us so the information flows very freely."
