Koren sets sights on title
ROBERT Koren has set his sights on Albion finishing as champions after moving within one point of automatic promotion.
The midfielder scored his tenth goal of the season in Saturday's 2-1 win at Norwich to leave Tony Mowbray's men two points clear of second-placed Stoke, with two games remaining.
Due to the Baggies' superior goal difference, a draw against Southampton next Monday (ko 7.45pm) will be enough to send them back to the Premier League.
But Koren wants to wrap up the season with the Championship crown.
"On Saturday we went for three points and we did that," said Koren.
"I'm happy with the season so far but we still have two games left and hopefully can win the league.
"We need to rest.
"We've had a tough three weeks and the next game is against Southampton - a game we want to win.
"We are focused on finishing top."
The Slovenia international, who suffered play-off final heartbreak last season, believes a stronger sense of unity is what has taken Albion to the brink of automatic promotion this time around.
"It was difficult because you do your best and last year was very disappointing," added Koren.
"We brought new players in during the summer and we stuck together, which was important, and we knew we'd have a chance.
"We said at the start of the season that we wanted to be first in the league so we started with that pressure but equally we had that quality and we proved against Portsmouth we can compete with the top sides.
"This team is better than last year's, we feel we have more quality and we are stronger as a group as well."
