TONY Mowbray has revealed Martin Albrechtsen is winning his fitness battle but is unlikely to face Watford on Saturday (ko 5.20pm).

The Baggies centre-half, who has started the last 19 games, limped out of Tuesday's 3-1 win at Blackpool with a groin injury in the 28th minute and was replaced by Leon Barnett.

Scans have shown there is no major damage but, rather than risk him against the Hornets, Mowbray believes Tuesday's trip to Wolves is a more realistic target for the Danish defender.

"Martin's alright," said the Albion boss.

"The scans showed no tear, strain or any other damage really.

"As I suspected on the night, it was just a fatigue injury - a tired groin.

"That said, we'll wait and see whether we decide to give him the extra few days and start him training at the weekend or on Monday.

"The good news is that he'll definitely be back training on Monday.

"We could consider using him on Saturday but probably won't."
