Shrewsbury Res 5 Albion Res 2

Posted on: Thu 27 Mar 2008

A YOUNG Albion reserves side were sentenced to their first defeat in four games by a more experienced and powerful Shrewsbury outfit.

Bartosz Slusarski opened the scoring at the Shrews' new stadium with his sixth goal in just four games.

But the Baggies' second string were pegged back by the break and slipped 3-1 down in the second half.

Matthew Pike reduced the arrears before the hosts added a further two goals.

Assistant manager Mark Venus said: "Shrewsbury had a lot of physical power in their team and it proved a bit too much for our young boys at both ends - especially up front."

Senior players Slusarski and Jared Hodgkiss both got 90 minutes under their belts in the Pontin's Holidays League Division One (Central) fixture.
