ALBION Under-18s recorded a third successive win by beating Newcastle 2-0 in Saturday's FA Premier Academy League inter-group clash.

Dwayne Samuels opened the scoring in the 30th minute and Stefan Morrison doubled the lead on the hour-mark.

Baggies Academy coach Michael Appleton said: "Since Christmas the lads have really upped the ante with the way they've applied themselves and trained.

"They've taken that into the games and Saturday was a decent performance.

"We were never really stretched at any point and I can't remember Newcastle having too many shots on goal.

"I was a bit disappointed we didn't win the game more comfortably because we missed numerous opportunities.

"I said to the players after the game that when we're dominating we need to be more ruthless and score more goals because you might not get opportunities like that every week.

"Once we settled down there were some really good passing movements and the second goal was well-worked from a set-piece.

"At the minute, the attitude and the way they are applying themselves is spot on."
